Day 13

Today was a free day for us. The only requirement for today was that we had to go to the ancient ruins of the city Olympos. The professors and our tour guide were planning on going at 10:30 so the entire group just decided to sleep in a little (until 9:30 which is the latest I’ve slept this entire trip), do breakfast until 10:15, and then go to Olympos with the group. We walked to the site and talked about it as we walked around for something like 30 minutes max. Really interesting site and it seemed like it would have been a pretty successful civilization because of the natural spring water and shaded forest location because it rests in the valley of some mountains two minutes off the beach. After a few of us had enough of Olympos we walked to a small grocery store for some snacks, the hotel for my fanny pack/fisheye/our sketchbooks, and then back to the beach. We sat on the beach and swam in the Mediterranean for around 6 to 7 hours today. So so so so so so so so so great. Got some digital photos and I hope my fisheye stuff came out. We all ate dinner as a big group at seven and then had to watch some film about tulips at 8. There were a bunch of problems with the TV so we ended up sitting crowded around a laptop. Movie made me really sleepy and went on way later than I thought so we ended up just sitting around afterwards instead of going out for a bike ride through town. Probably going to sleep kind of early tonight. The next place we’re going to has a lagoon and sounds pretty cool. We’ll see I guess!
