Day 13
Today was a free day for us. The only requirement for today was that we had to go to the ancient ruins of the city Olympos. The professors and our tour guide were planning on going at 10:30 so the entire group just decided to sleep in a little (until 9:30 which is the latest I’ve slept this entire trip), do breakfast until 10:15, and then go to Olympos with the group. We walked to the site...

Day 11 and 12
Yesterday we ate breakfast and then headed over to an ancient Roman city called Perge and walked around. It was a nice walk and I got to climb around and explore. Super awesome that you can just like walk through and it’s not all roped off or protected. There were also some stray dogs living in the ruins and they were super super cute. We saw the main city area where some of the baths were...

Day 10
Today we ate breakfast then went to the archeology museum of Antalya. Some really cool stuff. The museum was sort of strange, a lot of good and bad displays but some really interesting content. A lot of the stuff was taken from places that we’re visiting tomorrow. After the museum we headed over to this cool waterfall and took a bunch of photos and ate lunch. The professors were debating if...

Day 9
Today we drove four hours to Antalya. We stopped once for gas and snacks, once for lunch (which MICA bought for us) which was potato gozleme and fresh squeezed orange juice, and then we got into the general region and walked around then to where we’re staying. The drive was really beautiful. We went through snow capped mountains and then down to the Mediterranean Sea. The town is gorgeous...

Day 8
Today we ate breakfast and went out to a tile museum which used to be an old school for religious practice. Really beautiful and super inspiring. The colors were wonderful and the technique was unbelievable. The we went to another museum that had a bunch of carpets, prayer rugs, and some really beautiful stuff. Don’t really know how to explain without the photos. After that we went to an...

Day 7
Today we had breakfast and then said goodbye to Cappadocia. Miss it already. That place was truly incredible and I would recommend it to anyone. We drove for around four hours to Konya with a stop for tea and a stop at a gas station. After we got to Konya we checked in to where we’re staying and then walked around the city a little bit. Konya is very different than I expected. It’s a...

Day 5 and 6
Yesterday was one of the most incredible days ever. I woke up at 4 AM and a bus came and picked around 14 of us up and took us to a cafe in center town to get apple tea, coffee, and breakfast. Then we went to an open field andddddddd went on a HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE! It was really really cool! Seriously one of the most awesome experiences ever. It lasted for about an hour and we went up and down in...

Day 3 and 4
Yesterday we had a five hour drive from Ankara to the village in Cappadocia that we’re staying at. This five hour drive ended up turning into an entire day trip because we made around six or so stops. Along this drive I: befriended a stray dog, went to the salt lake, ate lunch, and went on a five mile hike through a nine mile deep river valley. We stopped at a gas station and there was an...

Day 2
Today has been absolutely amazing. Ate breakfast at eight with some new friends and then walked around town a little because there were problems with the bus we were supposed to take. We went into the super market near by and discovered some juice called Cappy which is apparently minute maid but 1000x better. The sight of the town during the day is even more incredible than at night. I can’t...

So today I arrived in Ankara, Turkey. Met up with a few people, took a bus to the hotel, quickly showered because I was gross from all the flying, went out to group dinner at a fish restaurant, walked around, then went to a bar. It’s everything I expected and I’m so excited to start doing things and traveling around more. Tomorrow is sort of like their 4th of July so we’ll see a...
